Could hypnotism cure a drug addict .?
-container">my daughter is a herione addict.. also she is bypolar.. i am wondering if hypnosis could stop he need to take a drug.. this is all controlled by the brain.. which no one really understands.. it seems that by altering the thought process. the need to get high could be eliminated... ?/???????Answers:
Hypnotism cannot make you do something you really don't want to do despite all the Paul McKenna stuff. Those people he gets to bark like dogs and stuff are not doing anything that goes against what they really want - i mean why would they be there if they didn't want to be made a fool of?
So, if your daughter really wants to give up, hypnosis may help her. Mind you, addiction is a very difficult thing to overcome. It may help, but that doesn't mean it's going to be an overnight cure.
It's not unusual for people with mental problems to self-medicate, to try and make it go away. I guess when she is high she feels "normal". You've got to somehow work out a way to help her feel good about herself, without having to resort to the high that heroin gives her.
