Trust in doctors?!

Question:

Trust in doctors?

Do you think Americans trust their doctor too much with their health?

Answers: It's my particular bias to say, "Yes, absolutely!"

I see it frequently in my work. A person will show up in the store. It's obvious from their appearance and lack of mobility that they have suffered from the ravages of their medical choices.

They'll half-heartedly ask about a single product. And then they say they need to check with their doctor about it. Of course, the chances are real good that their doctor has no clue about the product, or about nutrition in general, but that doesn't stop the customer from relying on their doctor about it.

It was the doctor who contributed heavily to the patient's poor health, but that often has no bearing on the patient's choices.

On the other hand, many of our customers are patients who have determined that their prescription drugs are what's killing them. And sure enough, they often discover that natural treatments help them a whole lot more than all their drugs combined.

Take care.

Health food store manager and author of "The Doctor Who Cures Cancer" and "It's Not Just For Sex." Well. Who else CAN we trust? Considering the FACTS that medical malpractice combined w/ unnecessary surgeries and fatal drug interactions are the THIRD leading cause of deaths in this country, YOU BETTER BELIEVE I DO. Over 900,000 people died in the US last year because of negative drug interactions alone, I believe the stat is. If it be known, the US medical system is about 29th on the universal scale of effectiveness. Is the reason it becomes so important to either find an outstanding doctor or get more than one opinion. Too often the two don't correspond. Then is time to find a 3rd. Is one of the very reasons doctors of Chiropractic have become so successful in treatment of cases not responding to orthodox methods of therapy. Not excluding other non-orthodox practitioners. I think that in the age of information more people have a healthy skepticism of the advise they receive from their doctors. Especially when it comes to medications. Gone are the days when we all looked at medical doctors as the end-all-be-all of health care knowledge. They face a lot of competition for patients these days from other types of health care providers that are providing true "health" care instead of "sick" care. So I don't think it is necessarily that we don't trust them...we just know these days that in many cases there are better, safer more natural ways to address many of the health issues we face. I believe most people; no matter what their nationality, trust their doctors way too much . I just asked a question and "Yahoo Answers" about drugs my Dr. had prescribed for me, I had done some research and, I was nervous about taking them, and I'm glad I asked, because a Pharmacist answered my question and said the Dr. had prescribed Two different drugs for the same condition and I might have gotten into difficulties if I'd taken them. One answerer was rude and said I should have more faith in my Dr.
Thank God I didn't listen to HER. Yes Doctors DO make mistakes and it's up to everyone to check for themselves BEFORE taking medication and ask questions too. Especially the older Generation. I have very little trust in the doctors. I believe they have been corrupted by the drug companies into pumping more chemicals into the body. Yes I definately do. Doctor's are taught one philosophy of medicine but there are so many more "alternative" methods that are out there. Most often those methods are curing more people than traditional medicine but just because it is not doctor recommended it doesn't get any merit.

A doctor is a human being just like everyone else but some people seem to think they are super human and can diagnose and treat everything which they simply cannot.

It takes a variety of methods to heal a variety of diseases. Yes I do. They are too easily discouraged from taking their health matters in their own hands. Nature's cures are readily available for those who seek them.
