Wud an iodine supplement raise my metabolism?!

Question:

Wud an iodine supplement raise my metabolism?

i think i have a low metabolism because i'm always cold...so i took the iodine patch test or whatever where you put a square of iodine on your arm and if it fades in less than 24 hours, you're deficient....mine faded in about 8 hours, so i think that's pretty bad.

Answers: If that is the problem, most assuredly it will help.. You need to consider some of the why's for the condition however. There is usually sufficient iodine in the salt we use. Should you be that deficient, you should also be aware of an enlargement on the front of the throat. Is where the iodine is stored.. Lack of this substance will cause the gland to enlarge. Iodine doesn't help your metabolism very much at all.... Chromium would do more for that.

However, Iodine is good for Thyroid health, and the Thyroid is partly responsible for maintaining an internal body temperature. Having a low metabolism doesn't make you feel cold.... it means you don't process food and energy as efficiently. Iodine is not the best supplement for a slow metabolism. I would recommend using a digestive enzyme and an antioxidant like OPC-3. Because a lot of times a slow digestive track can mask it as a slow metabolism. You can research you can find out by taking a survey called Nutri-physical it will tell based on your answer what supplements you should take based on your nutrition and lifestyle. you can register for it free of charge at the link below. Its very easy because i took one myself.

Its on the left side of the page. It may not do much for your metabolism. It is not really a "diet supplement". I'd advise you to do the iodine patch test daily until when you put the iodine on, it takes over 24 hours to fade. Then after that, start taking a multivitamin such as centrum that has iodine in it. Then if you want to raise your metabolism, exercise and drink green tea daily. This should bring you into balance.
