HOM?OPATHIC PRACTITIONER JESUS st. john's wort, exercise & enough sleep. Eat healthy and exercise. Try to stay away from too much sugar. Don't get too much sleep, it will drag you down. Start drinking Green Tea. It has sooo many health benefits. Try to stay away from alcohol, it's a depressant. Look for things to do. Recreation can work wonders. Visit your friends and family, go to a movie, curl up with the newest best seller. If you live near some trails, and you own a camera, you could try some photography. Just keep yourself busy doing less-stressful activities. It worked for me! first off...if you are taking an anti-depressant prescribed by the doctor you need to tell them you are attempting to use a natural anti-depressant.

st. johns wort is a usual substitute.

be careful and watch for symptoms of suicide and even more depression. good luck My AD made me soooo severely sick and when I told my doc I wanted to try something natural...he refused!! Now...I had only seen this new doc (he bought my doc's practice out) 2 times. HOW THE HELL DOES HE KNOW BETTER THAN ME????? He told me I would suffer from depression for the rest of my life. I was laughing inside my head at him...who on Earth does he think he is?!?!?!?!

I went to an herb shop seeking info on SAMe. They said they had the best results with this. Don't be a nerd like me and buy it straight from the company...it cost me double what others on the web pay! ;)

I was normal by the 3rd day and NO SIDE EFFECTS!!!!!!

WOOOOHOOO!!!!!!

I wish you luck... you can find your health again. ;) First of all, you must sit and think carefully about the depression and unhappiness you have been going through. e.g. financial, work-related, relationship, or family, etc..
Then please tell yourself that "What I want and what I can get may be two different things".
Go to bed early, get up early, take a walk for half hour or so , and enjoy the walk.
Prepare and eat simple food.
Do not expect things from anyone. Rely on your self.
Watch comedies.
If time and money at your disposal, learn a new skill or a language, etc. join the local night course, let it be flower arrangement or a cooking.
Meet up with friends and have fun, like swimming or going to movies.
I hope that will help.
Where you are tomorrow, is where your mind puts you.
Take care. First go to a health food store for better potency then your local dept. store. St. Johns wort is really good but it does effect some medicines. I have found that Ashwaganda is awesome. I can regulate based on what's going on in my life what amount I need. It actually is considered an anti-anxiety aide, but I found it works really well for mild depression. When I ran a health food store it was one that I suggested often and I never heard any negative feedback. Here is a description:
Rejuvenates and energizes the nervous system. Helps prevent stress related disorders. There is more listed but this is relevent to you question. Vigorous exercise. Sam e. Lithium orotate (a supplement). youtube.com

ha ha... no... well yes..
but running for more than 1 hour a day causes the release of endorphins which are brain chemicals that make you happy, or you could take cocaine and increase your dopamine levels. Knowledge. We all get down from time to time, and even really serious depression often lifts, or goes away with the passage of time.

Medical help and drugs are useful, only if you are getting to the point where you have no social life, and are considering killing yourself.

Sadly we live in a time filled with billions of people, where too many hundreds of thousands, maybe even millions, of girls and boys, feel sad, and alone. Connect to someone, even something and increase your relevance, and your opinion regarding yourself.

Your reality is yours, change it when things are not working out.

Hope this is helpful, oh and I have had anxiety attacks before, take your pulse, your heart is usually not racing.

Find something meaningful, purpose is part of hope.

from adventureboy I was on assorted anti-depressants for almost 20 years. Over the years I used in various combinations of assorted herbal remedies, exercise etc. and never found that I could get off them until I started drinking mangosteen juice last year as an alternative to pain meds for a dislocated jaw. One of the "additional" benefits of the mangosteenjuice was that over a 3/4 month period I was able to quit taking anti-depressants ENTIRELY!! Check out: www.thewholefruit.com and enter "depression" under the search engine at www.mangosteenstories.org . . . I think you will be amazed at what your research brings you! Please feel free to email me anytime if you have any questions! Best Wishes! St Johns Wart is the most studied. It is just as effective as Zoloft and Paxil for mild depression.

SAM-E is used a ton in Europe. Very good data in studies over there.

If you have severe depression nothing works as well as a true Anti-depressant.
