Help with Graham Cracker Crust!?!

Question:

Help with Graham Cracker Crust!?

I am going to a bbq today and made magic cookie bars last night. The crust is graham cracker crumbs and butter. There is condensed milk, choc. chips, coconut, and nuts on top. I thought that the crust would come together so I could cut it into bars but its still too crumbly. Is there a way to fix this? (I have to leave soon)

Answers: Yikes! The only thing I can think of is this:

Put a baking sheet on top of the bars. Flip the bar pan over so that the top of the bars is on the bottom of the cookie sheet.

One of three things after this:

One-You could see if the bars will hold together if the crust is on the top (it will be crumbly, but it could work) or
Two-try to sprinkle some melted butter on the crust and stick it in the fridge in hopes it will solidify or
Three-melt some chocolate, and spread that on the crust. That should make it stay put.

And you can say they are upside-down magic cookie bars!

Good luck! Well usually when you make a Graham Cracker Crust you mash up the Graham's and add a bit of sugar and then melt butter and stir together. It should have been a bit pasty. Then when you push it into the pan it should have been well pressed together. The kind of butter or margerine you used could have been a factor. I don't think there's a way to fix it, leave it in the pan and let them fend for themselves :) i don't think there's a way to fix it after the fact. i suppose you could stick them in the freezer for a few minutes. don't think I would attempt to fix the crust at this point, not with all the ingredients on top. Guess you didn't add enough butter to the mixture to hold it together......you could take each bar, and moisten the bottom of each.......never know, might get you through the bbq. Good luck!...........they will still taste delicious....lol Those are yummy cookies! When I make them, I mix the graham crackers and melted butter so that it forms a crust. Then I pat it in the pan and put the other ingredients in order, according to the recipe.
All I can tell you is to cut them into bars as best as you can anyhow, They are so good that i doubt anyone cares if it is crumbly or not.

I wish I were going to be there. I'd eat them anyway. Sounds as though there wasn't quite enough butter added.Sometimes you have to add a bit more than the recipe calls for.Your crumbs need to be sticking together well before you press them into the pan.
Instead of baking you can also put pan into the freezer for 15-20 minutes before adding the filling.
I wouldn't try to fix them.
Just take them as is and scoop from the pan one at a time as needed. They'll still be delicious.
Next time just add a little extra melted butter and you'll be fine.
Have fun at the BBQ
