I Just cooked wings in my deep fryer?!

Question:

I Just cooked wings in my deep fryer?

since it was raw chicken do i need to change the oil? someone please answer with an explanation of why or why not.

Answers: No, the oil is more than hot enough to kill any and all living things that were in the chicken wings. Bacteria are killed at temperatures as low as 160 F. Since you are frying at temperatures in excess of 300 F your oil is going to be sterile when you finish frying. Because the oil got hotter than any bacteria can stand to live.

Want a trick for the oil? I get my large strainer (It is metal). Put it over a large metal pot and strain the hot oil through that while it is still how. Get another pot and end up straining it 3 to 4 times (clean paper towels each time) to remove debris. Make sure the oil is cool before putting it back in the plastic container. Trust me -- nothing can live in the temperatures required to deep fry chicken wings. Any bacteria on them has long since died and gone to bacteria heaven after being immersed in hot oil. You need to change the oil if you will be cooking something else in it that is not chicken. Because the oil will have the chicken taste in it. the only problem is the chicken fat that is now in you oil can go rancid faster than other fat so changing it soon would be recomended
