How does a "Vaporizer" work? Smokeless?!

Question:

How does a "Vaporizer" work? Smokeless?

Would much rather avoid inhaling the smoke but never seen a "vaporizer" but I've heard that you just inhale the fumes. Is this true? How do they work?

Umm to clarify I'm talking about an alternative to a "water pipe". Vaporizers are a defiantly the most efficient to inhale various herbs.

Vaporizing works by heating up the plant material so the active ingredient is "vaporized" without combusting the material (on fire)

Plant material comes out unburnt, just browned abit. For the most part, after your herbs are vaporized, they are no good (all the goodies are melted off into vapors)

Inhaling vapor is much healthier then smoking, as you get very minimal tar, or other "in-active" ingredients. Herb has hundreds of different ingredients which have no effect. There is no reason to be inhaling these.

Vapor is not smoke, think of it as a "mist" of pure active ingredient. Vaporizers give a different effect then traditional smoking, a more clear, healthy pronounced effect.

When purchasing a vape, be very aware of what the heating element is constructed of. Look for ceramic, as metal heating elements put off by-products, and smell like a soldering iron.

"Volcano" is the best product on the market, it fills a bag with vapor which you then inhale. This runs about $500

Cheaper, equally effective models include the vapir, vapor brothers and vapor warez - on ebay for $100-200

Once you start vaporizing, you will never smoke again in your life, trust me on this one. :) It shoots minute particles of moisture, mixed with the vapors of the Vaporub, into the air. As you breath, the moisture sooths your nasal membranes while the medicine helps unclog your nasal passages. It's safe. You just plug it in & go to sleep. Esepcially useful when you have a sore throat. It's one of my tricks for getting over a sore throat quickly. Plug in the vaporizer; go to sleep.
Wake up & sore throat is gone! Hi Rain Man, a vaporizer for home is emits steam into the air. Yes, vaporizers release hot steam into the air and are notorious for causing burns in children.

Also a vaporizer (or vapouriser) is a device commonly used to release medicinal drugs from plant material, it can be used for tobacco or to release certain therapeutic compounds from herbs and other plants, a practice now commonly known as phyto-inhalation .

Vaporizers are available in many varieties. The simplest models use a lighter as heat source. Other models use electrical heating, with the more advanced models featuring temperature control and even dynamic temperature control as seen with systems that use thermocoupled hot air guns. High-end models may cost several hundred dollars.
