Are Vitamin C pills bad for people with ulcers?!
Question:
Are Vitamin C pills bad for people with ulcers?
Answers: For some people, they can be. Vitamin C is an acid, and can upset some people's stomachs. For those people, it's recommended to take a buffered vitamin C. It takes away the acidity of the vitamin C (by using a small amount of Calcium) without taking away the effect of it.
With that being said, vitamin C is a very good antioxidant that fights against free radicals, so it MAY help an ulcer, theoretically. No supplement can make any medical claims, so I can't say it will or won't.... but theoretically, it's possible. Source(s):
I'm a Product Specialist for a vitamin company Vitamin C is often used to prevent peptic ulcers from reoccurring and sometimes used in conjunction with other meds/herbs/vitamins to help alleviate ulcers. Many vitamin C pills can be harse on a sensitive stomach, I have acid reflux and it bothers me on an empty stomach. I like pineapple and pineapple juice to get my vitamin C because of the bromelains.
