Has anyone made a tincture by powdering their herbs?

Curious, my base is vodka and I am making a blue vervain tincture.

Wondering if perhaps it won;t take 6 weeks for it to finish and also curious if it needs straining when thru, I imagine it must?

Answers: I live in the Philippines now(I'm English) and I regularly make a tincture with vodka + 95% mangosteen peel, fruit and seed + pomello seeds(same as grapefruit seed) + cinnamon + cloves. I use a teaspoon every day for maintaining teeth and gums and I also drink it(1 tspn in water) for energy and to any kill parasites in my gut.

It's far better to make a tincture from fresh ingredients - the tincture will be more powerful. But it is OK to make tinctures from dried herbs, though quite expensive if you have to by them. All my ingredients are locally bought, fresh and extremely cheap.
