Its related wid meditation and pranic healing I suppose.

Answers: You asked about Clinical Hypnotherapy and then mention meditation and pranic healing.
"Clinical Hypnotherapy" - sounds very white coat and professional.
"Meditation and pranic healing" - sounds very much like a rainbow-crystal-newage approach.
Which do you want?

My recommendation is to go for a training course with a a fairly clinical, scientific approach - and that uses "evidence-based" methods.

There are also lots of new-agey type courses that get into past life regression etc. While this might be fun and interesting it really isn't suitable as a therapeutic approach. Too much research has been done now on what works and doesn't work to indulge in cute theories that feel good.

If you want a career in helping people who are suffering then I think you have a duty to find out what really works.

Modern psychotherapy and hypnotherapy takes an eclectic approach - using what works rather than what fits a particular theory. The eclectic approach therefore is "evidence-based" rather than "theory-based".

Look for a training that has a strong therapeutic focus, takes an evidence-based eclectic approach and is comfortable in relating to the cognitive model in modern psychology.
(e.g. a training school with this approach isn't going to focus on the idea of "repressed memories in the unconscious" - because modern psychology thinks that is just meaningless talk about something that has absolutely no evidence of existence or evidence of effectiveness as an approach).

I'd also ask them what is the philosophical background for their training materials on hypnosis and hypnotherapy.
A good school will know how to answer that question.

I'm in the UK and took a course with Hypnosynthesis.
You might want to look at their prospectus to get an idea of what a good training might look like.

My advice is to really do your homework on this. There a lot of people in the psychotherapy/hypnotherapy area that really have an underlying motivation to perpetuate a particular set of ideas rather than do whatever is needed to help the client.

You meet people who've spent 20 years in therapy analysing the relationship between their id and superego etc... When they just needed to learn to some relaxation techniques and be pushed to try out some new behaviours.

Become clear about your own motivation and philosophy. And challenge it strongly.
A good course will help you do that too!

Good luck!
Mark

PS - Evidence-based means that research studies are done with a scientific method. Not just a bunch of anecdotes. Source(s):
