Question about Ginko Biloba..?!

Question:

Question about Ginko Biloba..?

I am 21 years old and I have a terrible memory. I think it is because I did some drugs for about 3 years from when i was about 16-19 (pot, acid, and drank a lot). I think this may be why my brain has a bad memory and I cant remember anything before I was about 10. My GPA dropped from about a 3.3 to a 2.1. I heard Ginko Biloba was good for your memory.. do you think this will help me at all? Or is it more directed for older people? ((any younger (or older) people reading this.. let it be a lesson to you that drugs are bad and they really do damage you)). Thanks for your help!

Answers: Well, the others gave good answers about the damage the drugs may have done to you... but to address the Ginkgo Biloba, it is very effective for a lot of people for brain health and mental support. It's hard to say for sure if it'll work for you in particular, but it's worked for me and thousands of our customers.

My memory used to be horrible (especially my short term memory)... but I never took any drugs. I started taking Ginkgo Biloba, and my memory and my general cognition really improved as well.
Aside from Ginkgo Biloba, there are several supplements that can help with brain health. There's also Acetyl L-Carnitine, Phosphatidylserine, Fish Oil, Vinpocetine, Huperzine A, Bacopa Monnieri (or Monniera), or Alpha-GPC. Those are the most popular products for memory and brain support that help a LOT of different people.

Aside from pills, you can always do mental exercises, too. Playing games (like the children's game "Memory") or using memory tricks (mnemonic devices, etc) can also help to work the pathways in your brain that are responsible for memory. Source(s):
I'm a Product Specialist for a vitamin company I took ginko for about 3 months with zero effect. My pharmacist laughed at me and asked what I expected.
Save your money! You may have suffered some brain damage in your previous boozing and drugs career and that may well be terminal, permanent and irreversible.

Gingko biloba is supposed to be good for your brain and the memory portion in it but whether or not it can actually reverse previous damage who knows.

In the Search for questions slot type in "gingko biloba" + memory and you will get 2 results. A web search will give you at least 6,653 results and hopefully you will learn more. Ginkgo is used for the treatment of numerous conditions, many which are under scientific investigation. Available evidence demonstrates ginkgo's efficacy in the management of intermittent claudication, Alzheimer's/multi-infarct dementia, and "cerebral insufficiency" (a syndrome thought to be secondary to atherosclerotic disease, characterized by impaired concentration, confusion, decreased physical performance, fatigue, headache, dizziness, depression, and anxiety).

Although not definitive, there is promising early evidence favoring use of ginkgo for memory enhancement in healthy subjects, altitude (mountain) sickness, symptoms of premenstrual syndrome (PMS), and reduction of chemotherapy-induced end-organ vascular damage.

Although still controversial, a recent large trial has shifted the evidence against the use of ginkgo for tinnitus.
