Are there any natural ways to increase serotonin levels without meds?


What I mean is can you get it from certain foods?


Answers: It is thought that one reason that exercise alleviates depression is that exercise raises serotonin levels. Try vigorous aerobic exercise and/or lifting weights. It's better than ANY antidepressant. I'm really into working out. When I took antidepressants I became suicidal. Go to a health food store there are plenty of supplements such as saint johns wort ect. I dont think you can get it from food St. John's wort and Borage oil supposedly have positive antidepressant qualitys. St John's wort can make you more sensitive to light though. Gaba
