Are multivitamins and minerals as good as,the same as or better then the real thing?!

Question: like if i had a multivitamin and you had food amounting to the same nutritional value, who would be better off??

(other than the fact that you would be full and i would be hungry!)

You should eat a well balanced diet and include a multivitamin. Here's a heads up.....,Blue Green Algae...harvested from Klamath Lake in Oregon. I swear by it. I have taken it for over 5 years, and when I had my eyes checked and dilated because of being diabetic the Dr. was amazed....he said no damage he could not believe I was diabetic..my blood sugar runs a bit high off & on but this stuff I am convienced offsets the conquensces. People all over the world take it for various things. It is full of vitamins an amicno acids. Good stuff....I won't go without it.
Nothing replaces good food and nurtrition, so if you are going to eat bad and look to supplement forget it.
I've had cancer before and I do take a regime of vitamins that my Dr helped me pick out. I take Centrum Multi, Vit C, Vit D,
Vit B12, Mega Fish Oil, Blue Green Algae, Green Tea Extract and Baby Asprin. I also try to eat a healthy diet. I really don't. I am on a Dr prescribed diet now as it is not really healthy for me to diet. I am on prescription diet pills and want to lose 13 more pounds. I know I could do it on my own but I cannot diet for long periods of time. It isn't healthy for my body.
You didn't ask for all of this. I'm sorry I rambled. I have made absolutely no sense and that's ok with me.
First of all, if you were to attempt to eat the correct amount of vitamins to help in weight loss, hair loss, (or whatever you ate using them for) without using supplements you would run into a huge problem: a) natural sources vary drastically; how they were grown, when they where picked or killed, how long have they been sitting in your fridge or at the store. All these things cause a depletion of nutrients. b) most of the vitamins you need to consume are part of a raw food diet and not everyone like everything raw. As you cook it, even steam it it looses a lot of nutrients.

Second of all, you are correct in taking supplements that are of high potency. The FDA doesn't measure how much potency is in vitamin supplements. You will need to do your own homework, but there are vitamin companies who have done third party tests of hundreds of vitamin brands and found that there are only a few out there that are worth the money.

Did you know that it is virtually impossible to eat the right amount of probiotics each day without taking supplements? You need about 20 billion a day when you are feeling good, about 50-100 billion when you have a cold and over 300 billion if you have something more severe like cancer.
food is the first and best , then vits / mins if you want more advice ask the pharmacy they will tell you what is best to take at your age ....
Supplements or multivitamines are meant to supplement an already good diet.

You need fiber and generally don't get that from supplements, but as well, most of us need to eat. It's not only filling but it's also comfort that food provides.
