Who has lupus besides me?? what can i do too feel better without all those darn pills?? help please~~thanks?!

Question: Oh my dear, I feel for you... The pain and fatigue are awful! I'm 38... I was diagnosed with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) when I was 15. I really understand how you feel. I went the entire drug route, and had a severe reactions to the steroids and other drugs that I was prescribed. It's a catch-22... the steroids help with the inflamation and pain, yet they are so hard on our kidneys which is one of the places that Lupus likes to attack. So what is a person to do? I would never recommend that you stop taking the medicines prescribed for you. I have several friends that are doing wonderfully on their "drug cocktails." It does seem to take a number of medications to help. And each body is different, and so therefore will respond differently. What works for you won't necessarily work for me. Which makes all this a real challenge doesn't it? As for natural things to do for Lupus... I take a lot of supplements and various herbal/homeopathic treatments and totally swear by Acupuncture, Reiki, Yoga and Chiropractic treatments. I watch what I eat too. I've found that for me, certain foods seem to make me have a Lupus reaction. It's been trial and error as to what works for me. Find a good herbal or homeopathic practioner. They can help you find a regime that is right for you body, based on your body chemistry. Also, one of the most important things, which you probably know, is to have as little stress in your life as possible. You know that extreme stress will bring on a Lupus attack like nothing else will. That's where Yoga really has made a huge difference in my life. I hope all these things at least give you ideas. I hope you feel better!
