What is the best alternative medicine for depression and anxiety?!


Question: I've so far tried St. Johns wart, 5-htp, kava, sam -e, valerian root, and gaba...not all at the same time, of course, but taken as directed. None of these have helped me much in calming my nerves. Is there anything else I can try? Please help!

Did you have a blood test done to make sure your Thyroid glands are functioning properly?

Maybe you need to seek therapy, cognitive therapy helps you better understand the different facets of depression (if taking group therapy), you help each other cope and can openly discuss because it is private sessions and usually stay with the same group for so many sessions to work through different scenarios, figure out what type of person you are, for instance do you keep to yourself are you outgoing and so forth.

Its hard work I went through it I did take medication prescribed by my GP that did not agree with me at all and ended up in hospital. I am recovered thanks to the doctor that was assigned while hospitalized, I still see him although not as much now. You need to see specialists in the field and there are usually a crisis unit that can help.

Good luck I heard that natural products are only effective for a few months maybe you can rotate them I don't know but if they don't help, why take them.

Have you tried journaling your thoughts and then analyze (not right away) what you wrote. Writing things down, keeping a journal is very therapeutic.

I was taking kava kava extract (diluted in water when needed and took a bit more than advised) - it didn't take my anxiety attacks away right away but after a few days they got better and after two weeks disappeared almost at all.
