Is there a natural way to correct nearsightedness? I am too afraid of lasik surgery.?!

Question: I have heard that there are techniques to improve vision natually. However, I never heard them explained.

I've never heard of any techniques to improve vision naturally. If it was possible, I'd have tried it! But you are correct to proceed with caution where Lasik is concerned.

You're right to be nervous about Lasik surgery. I waited *years* before I went ahead with it... had several consultations where all the risks/benefits were explained to me, spoke to many people who'd had it done, and basically just did loads of research before making the committment.

The primary reason I felt I should do it was because I was seriously nearsighted and couldn't wear contact lenses. Even my ultra-lightweight eyeglass lenses were getting thicker and heavier every year. Eventually, I scheduled the procedure with a top lasik doctor in Southern California, and hoped for the best. When it was over, I was thrilled. My vision was 20/20 for the first time since childhood.

It's now 3 years on, and if I had to do again--- I would *NOT* do it. Even though the procedure was textbook and there were no complications at the time, the "risks" of the surgery became all too real when I soon developed an extreme dry eye condition in both eyes and a sensitivity to light.

Today, I must lubricate my eyes several times a day (and night) with a thick ointment and make frequent use of lubricating drops. (all told, $100 a month) The discomfort (if not pain) if I don't is extreme. I've undergone a procedure to have punctal plugs placed, but it didn't help the condition at all. I've tried other experimental treatments in the past couple of years to no avail.

Short of another surgical procedure to *possibly* correct this problem, I have to "live with it". Forever. Obviously, I'm a little leary of another procedure, but not sure what I'll do. In addition to the eye dryness, I can no longer drive at night because of the light/dark contrast sensitivity.

Certainly my case was the exception. People have Lasik every single day without complications... I just wasn't one of them! Still, I always advise anyone considering the procedure to take their time... there's no rush. Do your homework, educate yourself on all the risks, and hope for the best!

Good Luck... and I'll keep a positive thought for you!
Nope! Only glasses or contact lenses. Why not try the surgery if you are a positive candidate for it?
Unfortunately, no.
Vision problems are a physical issue (the physical distance between the retina and lens), not a chemical issue (which herbs could help with).

If you are scared, I would recommend talking to a doctor that does Lasik and get a free consultation (if it's available). They will be able to talk you through the whole thing and likely alleviate many of your fears. After that, if you don't feel comfortable, then stick with glasses or contacts. Good luck!
