Why are vitamins called "nutritional" supplements and salad is called "nutritious" food?!

Question: Because the FDA won't allow nutritional supplement companies to call their goods remedies or drugs so the industry has adopted a term which implies supplements to your diet that are good for you.

Nutritious foods = salads and the like. Non-nutritious foods = Twinkies and the like.

You somewhat already answered your own question. It's because salad has vegetables & fiber and is nutritious, whereas nutritional supplements give your body vitamins it may be lacking. They are both "nutritional", it's just used in a different context..
salad is nutritious food which gives necessary vitamins to human body and those nutritional supplements provide the balance or the difference of the vitamins which the salad is unable to provide
Do you understand what
nutritious means? Nutrition
is another word for the necessary vitamins and minerals, etc. you get from your food. Nutrition=good food.
Vitamins give you the same
food value as real food...
In a more compact form.
Salad gives you the food value that is in green plants,
so it is good for you, or
"nutritious".
