I've been on that and its good stuff :)

It can calm feelings of paranoia ( they did for me) and they helped me sleep.

I'd say give them a trial for 3 months - they only really kick in after a few weeks if you feel worse of no difference then go back and talk to the doctor

I hope rehab went well and that you do well in the future :)
take them at a time you'll remember like 1st cuppa of the day or something - good louck ;) Report It

  • Sounds like you may be depressed to me
go back and see your doc
Difficulty in sleeping, lack of drive to socialise/do activities, paranoia/anxiety are all signs of depression.

I suggest taking heed to what the doctors say. Why not just take your medication and see what happens.
Citalopram is prescribed for a number of condittions including depression, OCB, anxiety disorders etc. The drug basically helps your moods by increasing the amount of serotonin in your brain.

From what you have written there does appear to be a hint of depression there.

If you are worried about the medication go and have a chat with your G.P about it - that is what they are there for!

Personally I would advise that you take them. They can take around 6 weeks to really work so be patient.

    Good Luck
Almost everyone experiences depression at some time in his or her life. Depression is more than just a debilitating feeling - it is a profound psychological and physical experience, which affects the body's whole physiology.

Depression can be actually painful and it is dangerous.

Depression is often defined as a condition in which a number of specific symptoms persist for at least one month. If you have four of the following symptoms you are probably depressed. If you have five or more you are definitely depressed.

    1. Feelings of worthlessness, self reproach.

    2. Inappropriate guilt.

    3. Recurrent thoughts of suicide.

    4. Weariness and loss of energy and feelings.

    5. Diminished ability to think and concentrate.

    6. Loss of interest or pleasure in usual activities.

    7. Decrease in sexual drive.

    8. Continuing state of worry and apprehension.

    9. Insomnia or hypersomnia.

    10. Poor appetite with weight loss or increased appetite with weight gain.

    11. Physical inactivity or hyper-activity.

Along with these symptoms, the body's physical functions can become unbalanced as well. Constipation and changes in the menstrual cycle are common and you may feel cold, weak and sluggish.
I would take the pills the Dr has given you and also try to discover whats making you feel like you arent able to go out
Then you can gradually work with yourself to make your life happier
    Carry on taking them.
I take them and they help me fight my panic attacks.
