How can I stabilize my moods? Peferably with natural supplements, but right now I'll take any ideas.?!

Question: So I'm already on anti-depressents, but they don't seem to be working all that regularly. I'm also an insomniac, and the fluctuation in my sleep schedules (even though I'm on meds) really screws with my mood.
I'd love to find some kind of natural supplement or vitamin that helps you get on a more stable emotional plane. I don't have a ton of money (college student) so it can't be that expensive, but right now I'l take any suggestions.
Thanks. :)

I know it is illegal in most places but marijuana will solve all of these problems. It is very unfortunate it is illegal because marijuana is a very safe and effective way to treat all these symptoms. Anti-depressants are scary because they can really set you off balance. When you smoke marijuana you have much more control than you would with a manufactured pill. Marijuana will relieve your depression, mood swings, and insomnia. Check in your area and with your doctor to see what the laws are where you live.

You may also want to try yoga (I feel like this is turning into a hippy answer : ). Yoga is very relaxing. It helps you relieve stress by rationalizing your mood and feelings whether or not you choose to meditate. (I don't meditate but the exercises themselves do the job for me.) I wouldn't suggest any thing too intense. Pick up a beginners video and just try it.

Good luck with everything. I know how hectic it can be to juggle school, work, friends, and family all at the same time.

Maybe vitamins will help you especially B complex.

5HTP is the chemical precursor to serotonin. It comes from a natural source such as the seeds of the griffonia flower. Standardized formula's are 5% 5HTP. You can buy it at health food stores. It has a very good reputation for treating insomnia. For best results take it on an empty stomach 1 + 1/2 hours before bedtime. It usually works very quickly for depression too, sometimes over night. For some people it can take a few weeks before they notice a difference but this is unusual.
DO NOT take it at the same time as pharmaceutical anti-depressants especially the MAO inhibitors. You could have a very serious drug interaction. If you want to try 5HTP, you must stop taking your antidepressants for a minimum of 14 days. If you have Bi-Polar disorder or ar severely depressed, do not take 5HTP unless you are under the supervision of a doctor.
As mentioned above taking B Vitamins can help with depression. However you will need 50mg to 100mg of all the Bs to combat depression. The small amounts of the B vitamins in most vitamin supplements are completely inadequate. You can buy higher dose B Complex vitamins at health food stores some pharmacies.
Good Luck.

i found over the years that weightlifting can change what ever is bothering you.. i mean heavy weight that makes your heart beat.. and makes you tired aftrerward.. i have been lifting for about 30 years.. and when something bothers me i lift heavy and then swim.. afterwards i am tired and then i can sleep .whatever is bothing you is then dimished and then it is not that important any more.. this is hard to explain but it works . and if you buy a set of weights.. do this in a home gym. or your bedroom.. it is better if you do this alone.. i hope this helps you.. it works for me..

You need a product called Reliv. It has helped many people with depression and will give you energy to keep up with your heavy schedule. It also is know to clear up brain fog. It's about $2.65 a day, the price of a Starbucks coffee and sometimes the price of a soda. That is for two shakes a day. It will make all the difference in the world. Check out my web site www.mybalancednutrition.com. You have to put it up in the http://address line. You should also sleep better

Take up some kind of recreational drug habit - like the rest of us in college do.

Rolling on xtc will DEFINITELY help with your moods.

And you can take bars to get to sleep.

See? Its easy and its fun. And we all get our schoolwork done too.

Wake up ;)

It would be ever so nice if you could go to an alternative or
blended medicine doctor.
It sounds like you need to get
to the root cause and work from there--more naturally.
You may simply be having
female hormonal problems that have not been treated.
Or your whole way of eating
may be out of wack. A young
woman college student should
not be having these types of
problems. Are you putting a
lot of chemicals/food additives/imitation food colors/
phoney food into your body?
What are you allergic to?
Do you know? I can't speak
against your medical doctor,
but anti-depressents are
heavy duty medications and I
believe are overly prescribed.

vit b is the best way to go. maybe not in pill form. if you are brave then a b complex injection is a great thing and very cheep. meat spreads usually contain large doses of vit b .
