Antibiotics are not always indicated for ear infections and can sometimes (75%) cause a secondary infection within the next month becuase antibiotics kill the good AND bad bacteria.

What we've found very helpful in our family is garlic infused olive oil with some essential oils that are good for easing the pain ear infections. Tea Tree essential oil (melaleuca alternafolia), lavender (lavandula angustifolia) and eucalyptus radiata.

Put a couple drops in and wet a cotton ball in the olive oil mixture. Put the cotton ball in her ear while she's napping/sleeping and it will take away much of the inflammation and swelling.

I first discovered the power of essential oils through Melaleuca (company). It improved the health of my family & saved my son's eczema issues. Now I also use Young Living oils & both work together for better family health. Report It

Wanted to add - to create an oil infusion just place a clove of raw garlic into a bottle of olive oil and let it sit in the fridge for a few weeks. Great for all sort of health care goodies. :-) Report It

    WARM SWEET OIL!

To alleviate pain, place a few drops of warm garlic oil or olive oil in the ear, yhen a drop or two of lobelia or mullein oil.you can plug the ear loosely with a cotton ball. You can also make a paste using onion powder or clay packs and apply it to the outside of the ear to relieve pain.

if you smoke cigs. blow a little smoke in the ear and put some cotton in it to hold the smoke in. this should help. but only leave the cotton in for about 20 minutes.

Oh the poor little thing! Earaches are tough! I know it will sound strange, but put a few flakes of black pepper on a bit of cotton ball and place that in the ear. That always worked for me when I was a little girl, AND it works for my children now. Good Luck!

poor baby...here are a few suggestions
3/21/2007: Vickie (vlarks@sbcglobal.net) from Brentwood, California writes: "I use peroxide for ear aches and ear infections. First use the peroxide in ear or ears. After bubbling stops then you warm up pure olive oil put in ear or ears followed by a cotton ball. Usually ear aches subside immediately. Ear infections may take two or 3 times."

3/21/2007: Keri from Sylvan Lake, Michigan writes: "Cured toddler's ear infection!! After many ear infections and ear tubes in my son's ears, I was told to try 1 part hydrogen peroxide to 3 parts water and put drops in his ear to stop the discharge from his ears. Magic! It stopped the gooey discharge and cleaned his ear of the wax too!! I recommend it to everyone!!"

    The Blow Dryer Cure
4/21/2006: Sam from Lancaster, Ohio writes, "I use a blow dryer whenever I have an ear ache, and it instantly helps. You don't have to buy anything for this remedy unless you do not have a blow dryer."

    garlic
3/30/2006: Barbara from Dunwoody, GA writes, "I use fresh garlic as an antibiotic for earache and sinus infection. The antibiotic properties of garlic are a direct result of the allicin produced from raw, crushed garlic. This is destroyed by age and cooking - cooked garlic has virtually no antibiotic value. I crushed a fresh garlic clove, placed it in a handkerchief and squeezed a couple of drops in my son's ear, he was asleep in minutes with no pain in the morning. I've also sauteed noodles in olive oil & sprinkled fresh crushed garlic on it to address sinus problems."

11/16/2005: Anonymous writes, "Garlic for ear ache: one garlic tooth. heat not too hot. cut a piece from garlic. wrap in a cotton ball with vick 's vapor rub then insert in ear. Not both ears. in no time you'll feel better."

    good luck

A few drops of warm olive oil will help soothe the pain.

Hot water bottle will cause bacteria to go pinchers up. Heat improves circulation and drainage. Then go to Chiropractor.

i agree with the other post - warm sweet oil.

    i hope she's feeling better.
