Yes laxitive it should tell you on the package how to use it. to soak in for soreness and swelling. And it is also used as a food supplement for plants.
I don't know about the laxative thing. I am a runner though and whenever I get blisters on my feet I soak them in warm water and epsom salt. It makes them feel so much better and helps to heal them.

Epsom salt has many use. It can be used as a laxative, just follow the instructions on the package, however there are better herbal laxatives you can use that taste better. It can also be used as a "drawing" agent to draw puss out of a wound. Salt is an excellent alternative to wound cleansing as opposed to Hydrogen peroxide. You can put Epsom salt in a bath tub, and soak this helps with achey muscles.
