My opinion may be a little bias, but yes yes yes it is safe! The number of deaths/injury by using plant medicine is minuscule, but the number of death/injury of pharmaceutical drugs grows everyday! Also to clarify herbal medicine doesn't only include "extracts". I believe what the young lady is referring to there would be a product known as "standardized extract" that is when a lab removes the "active ingredient" from the plant, concentrates it and then encapsulates it. When taking herbal preparations this way, it is IMPERATIVE to follow the directions on the bottle to the letter. One must really treat these as drugs. Standardized extracts can have side effects, interact with other medications, and they don't really work that well. I do not recommend them, nor do I use them. I recommend & use WHOLE herb preparations. 99.9% of the time they are side effect free, MOST of them will not adversely interact with other medications, and they work very very well. It is always a good idea to work with a qualified practitioner when using ANY medication. Yes, some plants can make you sick or even kill you, but ALL pharmecuetical drugs cause harm. THERE IS NO SAFE DRUG!!! They all cause liver &/or kidney damage, they all have side effects, just some are more tolerable than others. Hope this info helps! Good Luck!

Herbal medicine treats the cause of the health problem and in general you don't get any side effects. In some isolated cases you do.

Prescription medicine treats the symptoms of the health problem and often you get dreadful side effects such as headaches, tiredness, dopiness, drowsiness, aching muscles, dizziness, skin rash, coughing and many others. The reason for these side effects is that your body is protesting against the invasion by these foreign materials.
