Doctor Giving Enema?!

Question: How should I go about asking a dr. to administer an enema for me. I sometimes have been having hard bowels and would like the dr. to take a look at me and would like an enema to help me. What is the best way to go about this to the doctor. can i request this when filling out the form in the waiting room or should i wait until he/she calls me in.?

1) First of all, a doctor wouldn't perform this treatment, they'd assign it to a nurse to do (or other lower ranking associate...). 2) It is also possible to become dependent upon enemas in order to go, so it is NOT usually a first choice as a remedy for constipation. Look at eliminating cheeses and red meat for awhile and increasing the water, fruit, vegetables and fiber in your diet before you even make an appointment to go see your doctor. Metamucil is an excellent non-toxic choice. It is simply made of psyllium husks. You can also try spoonfuls of warmed barley malt. It's less than $10.00 (more like $5) in the healthfood store, and is used in hospitals and nursing homes, especially w/ geriatric populations and moms to be on iron supplements to alleviate constipation. It goes by the name Malt Soupex in hospitals and nursing homes (and sells for a LOT more money, so like I said, go to the local healthfood store or coop.) Coffee also works like a charm for me...

Go to the drugstore and purchase one that you can do yourself.

Why in the world would you want to go straight to an enema? He will probably say fiber or softners first. enema eeewwwwwww yuck. And if they do say doan enema that you have to do it yourself at home, eeeewwwwwww.

If you are constipated, than you can go with the complaint of constipation and than when you go in, ask for your options for constipation. You can also get fleet enemas over the counter, they sell it at every pharmacy as well. But go get checked out as i dont know your medical history.

Tell the doctor your symptoms and let him'her decide how to proceed. The doctor will want to examine you first to determine whether or not an enema is the best treatment. S/he may prescribe something else.

Enemas are totally unnecessary if you get plenty of fiber.

Liquid chlorophyll and apple cider vinegar are both good colon cleansers.
