Ear infection in baby?!

Question: I have a 10 month old baby. He has a slight fever and keeps hitting his right ear. He just got over a cold which makes me think he might have an ear infection. Also, 2 days ago I accidentaly got water in his right ear, so I don't know what caused this, if in fact he has an ear infection. I want to know if anyone knows of any homeopathic remedies to help with this or if anyone has tried Hylands earache tablets or drops. Please let me know what some things I can do are, before I resort to prescription medication. The slight fever just started today so I want to know what to do before it gets bad. He hasn't started crying from pain but he was a little irritable today felt a little warm before bed. Thanks

When I was a child, my grandpa would blow smoke in my ear. I've also read that warming a potato and then wrapping it in a cloth and placing over ear.

For my middle child I tried the Hylands drops and that just made him scream more. Generally, when they scream, the end up perforating the ear drum which will relieve the pressure and fluid built up. Not laying flat will help ~ elevate the head to reclined but not fully upright position. Even cuddle time w/ mom or dad can help comfort.

A dose of acetamenophen could help too.

He has a middle-ear infection, and there's nothing you can do beside bring him to the doctor and get some medication.

First bring him to the dr to even see if he has an infection. I have 2 kids, both ended up getting tubes in their ears from NUMEROUS infections. But there were many times that I could've SWORE they had an infection and they didn't. It was just teething. Its a myth that babies pull on their ears when they have an infection, I just recently learned that.
Here are some things to ease pain and clear up infections:
1. put a warm washcloth/rag on the ear, it will ease pressure
2. Give your baby Probiotics (its in all healthfood stores, it tastes like nothing and comes in powder form for infants), I swear by this stuff
3. Give your baby vitamin a and vitamin d, most of this is found in carrots and beta carotine

Have you ever used essential oils? Peppermint is a good one to take down the fever. A drop in your hands and rub them together and then apply to the bottoms of baby's feet. Lavender is another good one. Remember to use organic, theraputic grade essential oils and never put oils directly into the ear.
