Bladder Infections?!

Question: Rather than taking prescribed medications to treat a bladder infection...are there any other herbal remedies besides cranberry juice or cranberry supplements?

There aren't many options other than drinking a lot of water, which helps to flush out the bacteria. Prescribed antibiotics will bring relief the most quickly and are necessary to prevent the bladder infection from turning into a kidney infection which is much more painful and dangerous. And remember, cranberry tablets are good to take regularly to help prevent further infection, but they do very little to treat your current infection. Also, there are over the counter remedies (one called Uristat comes to mind) to help you with the pain. Avoiding a doctor will prolong the situation though!

You could try alka seltzer for a couple of days - it makes the urine so acidic that the bacteria cant replicate....the nurses where I worked did that - but if a couple of days it doesnt go away....get a script, its too advanced to try the alka seltzer trick.

no they'll only give u penicillin....

I'm not entirely sure but make sure to drink alot of water, ok? it helps a little but obviously doesnt cure it

If there is already an infection in the bladder it is too late for prevention methods. An infection indicates there is a bacteria present in the bladder and the only way to kill a bacteria is with antibiotics. If a bladder infection is not treated it can become more severe and eventually spread and damage the kidneys. The only way to be sure you have an infection is through a urine culture. This enables the doctor to determine the type of bacteria present and provide the proper antibiotic for your treatment.

If you are attempting to avoid bladder infections:
Do NOT douche or use similar feminine hygiene products.
Do NOT drink fluids that irritate the bladder, like alcohol and caffeine.
Drink cranberry juice or use cranberry tablets, but NOT if you have a personal or family history of kidney stones.
Drink plenty of fluids.
Keep your genital area clean.
Urinate after sexual intercourse.
Wear cloth undergarments.
Wipe from front to back.

If you have a bladder infection then I would suggest that antibiotics from your GP would be the best solution. He/she would probably prescribe you something like Amoxycillin or Trimethoprin. Alongside medication you can take steps to prevent further infections by drinking 1.5 - 2lts of fluids a day (exc tea and coffee). Cranberry juice is certainly a good choice. Drinking plenty of fluids will also ensure that the kidneys are functioning properley and will encourage toxin elimination.

There is a neat combination of oils from Young Living called Thieves (I will not explain the origin of the name here) but to suffice IT WORKS

It is an antibacterial, antifungal, antivira, antiseptic, anti-infectious.

Webber State University tested Thieves and it was found to have a 99.96% kill rate against airborne bacteria

Thieves contains the following single oils
Clove
Lemon
Cinnamon Bark
Eucalyptus
Rosemary

It is best taken in a diluted form but I personally have taken it neat

To get rid of a bladder infection (and I have personally supervised 7 women) take 3 drops three times a day for 3 - 4 days I can gurantee you the infection will be gone

I must warn you - it IS A VERY STRONG taste but when I have the ladies take it - they do it neat - drop three drops on the tongue and immediately swish it down with water

You can order Thieves through Young Living or one of their distributors

Good luck - you can get rid of this problem easily

If it is an irritation, { dull ache]. A lot of water. and cranberry will help a lot. if it is an infection. pain , burning and feeling bad, you must get to a Dr, or it can go into a kidney infection, U will probably get Bactrim. for blatter problems.

Young Living medications are recommended above by Gerbear. This is an irresponsible recommendation of a convicted and dangerous quack.

"March 1983, Gary Young was arrested in Spokane for practicing medicine without a license when he offered to provide an undercover agent with prenatal services and to treat her mother for cancer. He claimed falsely to be a graduate of "The American Institute of Physioregenerology." But the institute's owner said that Young attended only a few classes, did only 1/3 of the homework, and owed $1,800 in tuition. Young pled guilty to the the unlawful practice of medicine and was sentenced to a year of probation.

More recently, Young ran the Rosarita Beach Clinic in Mexico, where he offered treatment of cancer and other serious diseases. He also established a similar clinic in Chula Vista, California. Modalities included chelation, lymphatic massage, acupuncture, color and magnetic therapies, "bioelectrical medicine," homeopathic remedies, and a vegetarian nutrition program. The clinic also offered iridology, live cell analysis, and "blood crystallization," which he claimed could detect degenerative diseases five to eight years before they caused symptoms.

In 1988, Young was arrested in California for misleading and deceptive advertising and for selling supposed cures. An undercover agent submitted a sample of her blood with a fictitious male name for the bogus "blood crystallization" test. Young reportedly told her that she had prostate cancer with cells that could act in a "potentially aggressive manner." Other charges against Young included selling unapproved medical devices and unapproved new drugs, manufacturing medical devices and drugs without a license, advertising drugs and devices to cure cancer, and practicing medicine without a license."
