I want to be a massage thearapist can anyone give me any information on that?!

Question: salary,ect,ect

Answers: salary,ect,ect

See kalos, how is your response anything besides trolling?
"I hate alternative health practices such as massage and like to flame them" that's all you're saying.

It has nothing productive whatsoever to offer to the asker, it's just trolling. Yahoo answers rules say trolling is not allowed. It's not a conspiracy of mods being against conventional medicine.

Besides that, the biggest question in terms of getting a massage liscence is "what are the state by state requirements." In some places it's really easy to get certified, in others you have to do a lot of hours worth of massage. Also, the salaries vary, but if you are the age of a college student, within 2 years of entering massage school, you can be making at least 30 an hour (including expenses) and a lot of massage therapists claim to get 100k a year.

If you have a natural affinity for body work, it's a good job to get. Some people aren't cut out for it because it's a lot of physical work, and flesh gets old after a while. If you genuinly want to be a massage therapist though, go right ahead, it's a fairly well paying career that doesn't require a lot of lame schooling to get into, and if you like it, it's a very rewarding practice (and we all know people who have jobs they hate).

You really shold try to find out what local massage schools exist in your area, and go in for a talk. You can find out your areas requirements there, along with if they work for you, or you need to move.

Hope that helps! I personally would never do the career, but I know a few friends who have and are in love with it, so if you do, all power to you!

Monster.com?

Go to www.stats.bls.gov this will show salaries schools, workplace, schooling ,etc.....a very good place to start!

Many people fail to distinguish between a massage therapist and a hooker.

Response to AlexF:
Anything not in accordance with AlexF's world view is called trolling. My statement above is factual and responds to the question. There is a widespread view that massage therapists are often hookers. That's not true, but is is a widely-held perception, which anyone going into this business needs to know.

well it really depends on where you live, for instance from what I hear in the states they are only required to take a 500 hour course but in canada you need a 2200 hour course, very detailed. Salary varies drastically, depends on where you work, how much you want to work and what your split is or if your self employed or an employee. A lot of ppl are in a contract but are considered self employed within a company and they could do a split of 50/50 or less or more depending, that means you are usually required to buy your own things like linen, table, maybe office stuff depends if your within another clinic or not with other professionals, you have to remit your own taxes. this is the most common one i have heard of within a chiropractics office or physio. If you get in there it's good cause usually there is already established clientele. If you go alone and do something all by yourself it's a lot harder to get ppl in the door cause you are the only professional there. Or you could be an employee which means you wont' have to buy anything it's all provided for you but you work when they say and sometimes are expected to do other things like laundry which if your on your own you will probably have to do anyways. If your an employee you could get paid 10 per client or you could get 30 per client depends on where you are and the demand and if there is a saturation of massage therapists already where you are. The good thing about massage is you can work part time and still do alright cause you could make like 30/client which is kind of like 30/hour depending if take 8 clients a day. It can be very physically demanding so some therapists aren't able to take that many clients a day. Hope this helps

I'm a therapist in South Florida and I charge $65 for an hour of Swedish massage in your home.
I also work part-time at a day spa and I receive 30% of what they charge for a therapy.

HI
im a massage therapist and i HIGHLY recommend the school that i went to.

nhi.edu

they are amazing and it was the most amazing school ive ever been to!!!!

also salary depends on where you are and where you chose to work.

some spas willpay per hour and some will pay per massage

if you decide to have a private practice and have your own clientale then you can caharge what you feel is fair but most CMTs make about $30-$70 (and upwards per hr/masage)

also depending on what state/city that you will be practicing in you wi;l;l either have to a aquire a city license to practice or a state liscense.

for example...California as a state does NOT regulatre m,assage so you will have to go through each individual city and pay for the liscensing. I would recommend getting at LEAST 720 HOURS OF TRAINING. Now in a state l;ike Florida or new york you have to also get your national certification to get a liscense and a 1000 hours of training.

another thing is a lot of spas will hire a CMT (certified massage therapist) as an independent contractor and it will save the spa money, its bot good and bad...but if you work as an IC then you get no benefits etc.

Yes, try to go some local schools when they have the 'open house.'

You will get a chance to look at their teachers, practices and beliefs.

Good luck, a good MT is really a healer, and the world needs lots of those.
