Yes, it boosts your immune system and I know people who have had the damage/suffering by aids lessened.
However, it won't cure it. I have heard of it happening, but that was in china with a super master guy doing the needles, so it's basically not repeatable.
If you want to flat out cure aids and get rid of it, the only working approach currently is ozone therapy. I know a guy that's cured enough people with it to convince me it's legit, if you want to know more ask google or get a book on the subject.
And yes, accupuncture can affect the central nervous system. Just about anything can, although it gets in deeper than many other things, although I'm not sure exactly what effect you're looking for. It can soothe it, and get rid of certain problems which get rid of physiological and mental problems.
