To all Herbal Practitioners ONLY....Hyperthyroidism?!

Question: Two years ago the doctors discovered I had it and pretty much figured most of my life. They got it under control with pharmaceutical drugs and I was on them for one year. Problem is, I have no health insurance and no way to pay for doctors or the drug to control it. (costs are out of control in USA) As each month goes by, I feel all the old symptoms comming back. I have a good herb book but it doesn't cover this and I wouldn't know what to take or how much (I have hair loss too) USA makes Herbalists pratice illegal and that is where I live. My herb book states you can get training in Britain and that is why I am asking in the United Kingdom. You are allowed to buy herbs here and treat yourself. Could someone help me?

(to the person above me) Herbalism is not voodoo, it is the basis that all modern medicene comes from. If it weren't for herbs and plants, most of the dieases we can cure now would still be incurable. Please refrain from being so narrow minded and talking about things you know nothing about.
Oh and read the damn questions - she's in the USA, but herbalism is illegal there, so she is asking people in the UK.

Are you the same person i answered before? If you are then same answer applies, but if not:

Yes, herbalism is a taught thing here. I have a good friend who is in her final year in Uni, and currently does clinic work during her spare time. She's a very good herbalist and i'm sure she can asnwer your questions. If you would like me to get in contact with her then please email me, as i am unwilling to give herbal advice over here, in case people take it without knowing what they're doing, or what conditions they really have.

If your in Britain they have cheap health care, so just buy the pharm drugs there. Turning to voodoo medicine won't help.

Well, you could try some Iodine (commonly in Kelp), L-Tyrosine, Zinc, and Coleus Forskohlii, as they all help with Thyroid health. All of those can be shipped into the UK, so if you can't find them in any local stores, you can contact a mail order company that ships internationally (I use http://www.swansonvitamins.com ), and they can mail them to you.

Actually, many states allow acupuncturists to legally prescribe herbs if they have formal training in herbs.

In Chinese medicine, thyroid issues point to Kidney Deficiency. With HYPER-thyroidism, there is Kidney Yin Deficiency. The Kidney Energy is also responsible for the hair.

Most of these herbs are used in combinations. This is a complicated condition, and there are not many 'single' herb remedies that will quickly clear the condition (although I am a big fan of kelp). Tonic herbs that are taken over a number of months will be your best bet.
