Anything that we do due to a Habit, itself is not good, even if it is good habit. And bad habits are worse.
There is a joke about Habit, ....

Now,
seriously,
anything we do unawares, is a habit.
So start being conscious of all our actions.
And, if we are very intense in our awareness, being conscious of our 'habitual' actions, we would be surprised, the habits would drop by itself , if not needed, and those good ones, the ones that we need, we would improve qualitatively upon it !

Don't try quitting it,gets you more depressed.Instead latch onto a better,rather involving habit like exercise and your current bad habit will vanish.
That's how the human mind works.

Just Plant One good Tree For One bad Habit, on the day you quit, that would help you to remeber that i have quitted my bad habit on such and such date and that will hammer your mind and refresh your memories and will forbid you to go back to same bad habits

Whatever you do, dont quit cold turkey unless you are absolutely determined its the end of your habit. Start off slowly by decreasing your habit, and lessen it everyday. Make goals for yourself, and have some self discipline. Once you set your goals, make yourself a deal that you will do something or buy yourself a treat that you cant normally have, and once you acheive your goal, reward yourself. Good luck!!!

I can't say it's the BEST way, but I had a bad, expensive habit for a long time. On several occasions I tried to quit, but failed.
The last effort succeeded. That was almost fifteen years ago.
To do it, I used the strongest tools that nature gave me...
my EMOTIONS. All of them can help, if you are really serious about it. I had to learn to use them all. It paid-off.
Here's another idea I've worked with- your brain does not care about your welfare. It will make you do stupid, dangerous things to get what it wants. Your SPIRIT, or SOUL, or whatever you call it is NOT your brain. You must decide to take control, and refuse to follow the simple brain when it's taking you the wrong way.
Think - think - think

some times the body itself will say NO MORE. I was a smoker, now past 20 years I have stopped because the body could not take it any more. You need will power & have to get indulged into some thing that will forget about the habit. Dont try to get rid of it suddenly but if you do so & when you start again you will be seven times more worse than before.

P.S: I was a chain smoker for cigarettes (4 packets 0f 10 each) a day. One day , I just gave it up!

for smoking combine cold turkey with the product herbpharm avena licorice. A boyfriend quit a 30 year habit with this and said he had zero cravings for five days.

For other things, they say it takes 21 days to make a new habit. Use positive affirmations a lot and read book and see the video on the secret and apply the law of attraction..but do not say things like I will stop smoking or drinking say things that are want you want not what you don't want (the subconscious does not hear the word I don't want (for instance) war..stay instead I want peace..so find a way to express what you want not using those words and what you don't want or what make you feel bad as it reminds you that you still have things you don't want as this attracts more bad to you. The key is the feelings...think things that make you very happy..and during these times, you vibration will be raise and more positives comes..this is the time to think you law of attraction wants...think of times that made you really happy like picturing puppies or kiddies playing, babies giggling, a beautiful sunset or think thoughts of thankfulness and appreciation as these are very high vibration thoughts.

Make a list of all the good things that breaking the habit will bring and all the things you get from the habit..go through the list of good things the habit gives you and find substitute ways to meet those same needs/things positively..then think about all the bad things it is bringing your way and resolve to break it..use prayer and use will power and positive affirmations...

Be strong, decide and leave immediately. Forget and do not buy and do not accept any offer. I used to smoke till 1985, but decided to leave immediately. Nothing happened and I am quite well and better. So as soon as you read throw all cigerates and never smoke.
