Passiflora is a very well known herbal treatment for anxiety, so it's surprising that this research has only just discovered that it magnifies the results of St Johns Wort. Almost all depression is caused by one's circumstances when you analyse it, so there is usually some anxiety - often a lot - mixed up in with the depressive feelings (I suffer from this stuff myself).

If you already have the St Johns Wort, you could just buy the passion flower/passiflora and start taking that as well. If not, there's no harm in buying a mixture, if you can get one - I can't say I've ever seen it, and if it's a "new" discovery it may be a while before it's sold as a mix.

However, if you are depressed, there are other treatments, such as cognitive therapy, that may be more effective long term.

Depression generally signifies a lowering or reduction of some kind,
for example in the context of mood, economy, or functionality:

Medicine is not the answer

st johns wort takes about 3 months to work.
I've read omega-3 works also, and ginko biloba, they also take 3 months on average to fully work.

It's old news that St John's Wort fights depression - but did you know that combining it with another herb, Passionflower, cuts the time it takes to work from six weeks to two?

"Passionflower rapidly fights anxiety which worsens depression," says Professor Hertzen Hokwerde, who discovered the link.

Truthfully do not buy that in a store. Get on line and look up Dr. Schulze. Try typing depression beside his name as well. He has a book out called, "The Save your life Collection."
He tells everyone to make stuff there self.
