Is there another, perhaps CHEAPER alternative to taking fish oil?!

Question: For one, I can't stand the taste and texture of it, and two, $30 a bottle is quite pricy. Can anyone suggest a more reasonable brand? That I could find at health food store? What else could I take to increase cognitive function, memory, etc.?

Flax seeds, flax seed supplements and Flax seed oil is a good alternative to fish oil.
Gingko is also a good supplement to take to help with memory and brain function but Omega's are great.

When I was doing research on it, we used Carlson.
Which is an excellent quality and a middle of the road price-wise brand.

I give my father puritans pride - which when its on sale is both good quality and a good buy.

I just started taking something with a high ratio of EPA to DHA (country life Mood factors) which is on sale this week at Vitaminshoppe.com ...the trick is to buy them on sale.

Be well -Peace

You could try fish oil tablets (as opposed to liquid) or flax seed.

30 DOLLARS! Are they gallon bottles?
I read that the US was going to catagorize fish oil as something medicinal BUT GOOD LORD!
There are suppliments for everything but a reputable dietician can save you lots of time and money.
As for taste and texture, glug glug and then it's done,,,, good for your bod..Oh I guess it is medicinal,if it tastes bad.

Presumably capsules are even more expensive than a bottle of fish oil (based on the number of servings).

The omega 3 in flax seeds, flax oil, soy products and walnuts is actually ALA (of which only 5 to 10% is metabolised to DHA). It is only the DHA found in fish oil that is good for your brain, cognitive function, memory, etc. The ALA omega 3 has some heart benefits as does DHA and EPA in fish oil but no brain benefits so if you want brain benefits you had better stick to fish oil.

Firstly, don't drink the liquid
oil! Take your fish oil in capsules. 2nd) You must be absolutely sure that this oil is from pristine waters. The scandinavian waters are about the best that's left.

The price you are paying could pay your way to Norway to buy it wholesale pretty soon...
I pay about $8.00 for 100 soft
gels serving size 1 per day.
Here's a good supplier:
