Homemade cold remedies?!


Question: I have a dismal cold that's been dragging me down for quite a few days now. It's interfering with my work and just being overall unpleasant.

Are there any home-done cold remedies out there that actually *work*?

Here is my recipe passed down by my Grandma (96 and still going strong)....

The juice and pulp of half a lemon
1 Tablespoon of honey
1 - 2 cloves of garlic
Hot water

Mix all ingredients and sip while hot stirring occasionally, drink about 3 - 6 during the day, you will need to visit the restroom frequently but that is just the release of excess liquid and toxins.
I do this and i have NEVER had a cold last more than 2 days i promise....

If you want to fight a cold without drugs, eat some food with fresh chili peppers in it, the capsaicin in the chilies will help flush your body and make you feel better. Don't waste time with "homeopathic" treatments, they are usually worthless. I hope u feel better!!!! :-)

Firstly this is rough but does work a nip of rum with a nip of stones ginger wine and drink. Then a small beer chaser.After 3 go to bed the sheets will be wet in the morning but you will have sweated the bug out.If alcohol is out, try peppermint oil on a cotton bud, tastes horrible and is strong but will in 2 days really get you going again.It can if you are really stuffed up give a head spin, take a little suck,first.

For clogged sinuses, mix up some warm salt water (just warm water with a little bit of salt in it), plug one nostril and snort it up your nose until you can feel it go down into your throat-- gross to imagine doing but amazing results... do both nostrils and the bulk of your snottiness will be gone. Honest! It's an old remedy- scares anyone I suggest it to (I have to dare most people to do that) and once they've tried it, they become permanent converts, especially with sinus headaches.


Repeat twice daily until gone (less than 48 hours to gone)-- also, get fresh eucalyptus leaves (easy to find if you live in California-- sometimes florists have them otherwise) and steep them in boiling water like tea- put them into a big bowl (bigger than your face), lean over the bowl with a towel over your head and breathe as deeply as you can- it's the natural version of vicks vap-o-rub.

For vitamin C to strengthin your imunity, what's helped me is heating up orange juice in the microwave and drinking that.

it's worked for me.
also try emergency or Airborne.....
one of those should do the trick with a lot of sleep.
