Is lemon ok for a sore throat?!

Question: I read on a website that lemon juice will help a sore throat. I have a very dry, itchy, swollen throat from strep throat. Would lemon juice be ok? I was going to mix it with some honey.

well it depends on the person. Some people benefit alot with it BUT there are also other people who get even a dryer throat and makes them feel worse.

You should really try Honey! honey is one of the best things for your throat.

Yes - lemon and honey would be a good bet for that.

yea if you can get past the taste

i too have a terrible sore throat today,i even went to the dr. and had a shot yesterday and it isnt doing eny good.lemon burns my throat,i cant do that.but i make a nice cup of hot tea and a little honey and it seems to sooth it a little.

honey and lemon in your tea is perfect for a sore throat.

Lemon and honey are some of the best natural things for sore thoat. It's why they have honey and lemon cough drops.

When you have a sore throat, you need to gargle with warm salt water. It kills the bacteria that is causing it to be sore.

Recently graduated w/a certificate as a Medical Assistant and my intro to the human body proffessor said that this is the best cure. It works!

Go to the store (Walmart) and get some horehound candy - this will help a good deal. Echinacea will also help and sprinkle garlic over your food or cook with it also Goldenseal and Barberry will help. If you have a Hobart's in your area, you can get Goldenseal and Echinacea together, slippery elm is supposed to do wonders for a sore throat and Colloidal silver (called Throat Rescue at Hobart's - is really a wonder!). Feel better soon. Strep throat sucks - neither I nor my 5 yr old have tonsils because of it!

That would be good for it probably, but go to a doctor. Strep can be dangerous if left untreated and can damage your heart. So if it's strep you need antibiotics.

Add 1 tablespoon of honey to 6 oz. of boiling water to mix then add the juice of half a lemon. You can also steep tea in the mixture, if you prefer.
Gargling with warm salt water will also relieve a sore throat.

Honey in warm water works great....also, gargle with warm salt water...will help sooth your throat and help also with infections...

As another has already stated, Strep throat is very serious and should be treated as such. You need antibiotics as strep can lead to other very nasty things.
Lemon juice will help you fight the bug. Fresh is best. The reason for fresh being best is it still has the bioflavinoids, not sure if I spelled this right. Bioflavinoids are like the gas stations that hold on to the Vitamin C so you actually can hold more longer as vitamin C is not stored in the body.
Lemon juice is fantastic! When you first get the itchy eyes, scratchy throat of a cold do this and you'll kill the cold in its tracks. Squeeze a drop or two of lemon on your finger and snort it up your nose. Do both sides. I know this sounds horrible but it works and does not burn if you do it right away. Obviously if you've been blowing your nose for a while it will burn but it will still work. It kills all the bacteria and viruses it encounters along the way.
We usually drink a shot full of pure lemon juice after snorting a few drops with excellent results. My husband hasn't had a cold in four years!!!!!
Lemon juice does a variety of things - it will stop a nosebleed; purifies water; etc.
Hope this helps.

Lemon juice is great!
