Personal recommendations are for your friends and not your patients. Professional recommendations are for your patients and friends as well.
When making a professional recommendation, you should not recommend any one in particular. You should only say that you need some chiropractic care as opposed to saying you need to see Dr. Garrett for some adjustments.
I do hope this answers your question.

well just a guess, but I would think that if there are any contra indications you may not be qualified to treat you would have to recommend a professional or you could be liable

you can go to the professional website and see of some one is a member of an official club

I'd imagine there's a legal implication - if you recommend a buddy, or someone gives you a percentage of everyone you send to them it could be seen as improper.

Otherwise, I know in kinesiology we are not diagnosticians, even though we can have a pretty shrewd idea of what's going on in the person's body. If you send someone to see someone who specialises in a certain area, you could be accused of diagnosing and leave yourself liable to suing if the patient gets shirty about anything.

Hope this gives some food for thought.

The patient has already demonstrated gross stupidity by going to a Reflexologist. There is no need to add to his humiliation by referring him to another altmed quack.
