Since the non-herbal things have been covered, I'll toss in a few of those. The most popular things for stress and relaxation are St. John's Wort, SAMe, some B-Vitamins, GABA, Ashwagandha, and L-Theanine. A lot of people get a lot of benefits from each of those, so I'd say give one a shot and see how well they work for you.
But yeah, meditation, Yoga, and general exercise are really good for relaxation without taking pills, too. Good luck!

anxiety attacks are induced by a sudden release of adrenaline from the brain. the good news is that adrenalin has a very short life span in the blood, if you recognize that fact and just sit quietly and breath slowly wait for the adrenaline rush to pass it will and you will be fine. If however, you let it get you all nervous and worked up...the brain just keeps on releasing adrenalin until you are too burned out to respond, not fun. So, next time you have an anxiety attack, try sitting and breathing slowly with a 15 minute timer, adrenaline only lasts about 12 to 15 minutes in the blood stream.

I'm not sure of an all natuaral way. I am on Effexor 75mg per day. In the next few months i plan of getting off this medication, I have started seeing a phychiatrist twice a month that can help me get rid of the anxiety. You need to see a professional, and work on a treatment plan first. No meds are required for talking to someone. Plus it might help just to have soemone to talk to.

I agree with the previous answer to an extent. I have had all kinds of things happen during the onset of an anxiety attack. Sitting still and breathing is a great help, but if you are past that point. Try laying down...in the dark, with a cold rag on your head. Count to 6 while breating in, and to 6 while breathing out. while you are counting, picture the numbers in your head while you are saying them out loud. That really helps me.

This book has a lot of helpful proven ways to reduce anxiety. For example there are breathing exercises and meditation which I found very helpful.

I BELIEVE THAT IF YOU LEARN TO STRENGTHEN YOUR COPING SKILLS, BE AWARE OF WHATS GOING ON WITHIN YOURSELF, AND INCREASE RELAXATION SKILLS YOU CAN KICK IT.

I have for many years had suffered from OCD, GAD and just plain old anxiety and I went to a natural doctor about 3 mths ago and she put me on adrenal support by Dr. Christopher plus st. johns wort (any brand) which has made my life change dramitically. I wouldnt go back to taken all those meds the doctors give me again. They give you those meds but dont tell you about the stupid side effects and on the herbal treatments you dont have to deal with the stupid side effects.

I would recommend meditation. It's the most natural way to get rid of stress and anxiety.

For immediate relief, try a low dose of valerian. A higher dose could cause drowsiness. Do not use hops - they may work but can cause depression or have the opposite effect. Other options for short-term relief include betony, kava-kava (which is banned in some places), Jamaican dogwood and chamomile, which is probably the most easily available. If it is associated with depression, St John's Wort (which interacts with a lot of other remedies, so don't take it with anything orthodox) and Gingko biloba are possibilities. For a longer-term solution, take Siberian ginseng one month on, one month off. Also, try breathing exercises, relaxation and Yoga or Pilates. There is also a method involving focussing on the anxiety while moving the eyes back and forth.

Its essential to get the B-complex vitamins, since they work together to balance proper brain functioning.
Fatty acids, such Omega-6, Omega-3.
Magnesium and herbal extracts such:
St. John's wort (Hypericum perforatum in Latin) is a long-living plant with yellow flowers. It contains many chemical compounds.

Some Indica in small doses, or Chamomile tea works, also an alcoholic beverage, one drink though. but thereapy works best.
