Does St. John's Wort really work?!

Question: I have been taking St. John's Wort supplements for a few weeks now. It is supposed to take care of depression and lift your mood. I feel like it might be working, but I'm thinking it may be purely psychological.

there is fair evidence that it has some effects for very mild depression. That's about it.

It does not work for more severe cases.

The problem with all "natural" supplements is the dosage and quality can be highly variable, and you are never really sure what you are getting, as the industry is not as regulated as the pharmaceutical industry

Tried it and didn't knotice a difference.

It can work very well for some people, but if you're not happy then try 5htp instead - that works very well.

Rhodiola Rosea (Siberian Golden Root) is also good for depression.

In my non-professional opinion, natural remedies such as St. John's can be beneficial to an extent but aren't going to "cure" you of some sort of diagnosed depression. It certainly could help, especially if you were to combine it with a healthy diet and some exercise. Whenever I'm a little bummed a good work out seems to do wonders.

I found it to work but changing my diet. try taking it with a healthy diet. veggies and rice and chicken. and water. and no preservatives and no corn syrup and crap. Sugars ect processed foods stay clear for a month or two and see if you tell a difference.
