Answers: i dont want to take anything prescription.

re Samnbudsmom's recommendation of a homeopathic medication for insomnia:

Recently, a groups of altmed skeptics decided to hold a mass suicide. In front of horrified onlookers and television cameras, the skeptics took large amounts of highly concentrated homeopathic sleep-inducing medicine. Ambulances stood by.

The result? Nothing. Not even a yawn...

weed lmao

Tylenol Sleep is pretty nice, not much "hangover" the next morning, if any

I've always used Unisom Sleep Gels. They're fairly effective but try not to take them for long periods of time because it does become difficult to sleep without them. I've also tried generic brands of sleeping pills and they've all worked for me. You can also ask any pharmacist to recommend a brand to you. If you explain your problem to them, they might be able to give you a better idea of what will work for you.

A good homeopathic pill to take is VALERIAN ROOT. It is a natural muscle relaxer. It helps to calm down the muscles making it easy to sleep. You can also go to your local health food store and ask for a natural sleep aide with Valerian Root in it.

Benadryl works well.

The majority of OTC (over the counter) products are nothing but Benadryl (Diphenhydramine) So to save a little money buy a box of Benadryl and you will be sleeping in no time. Start with 25mg (1 Tab) if that doesnt work take 2 which will equal 50mg.

At this iste are presented a couple of natural supplements to help sleep:

Eating some tuna in the evening can also help, since the tuna contains musch of the amino acid thryptophan that aids sleep.

Melatrol Sleeping Aid will help you fall asleep faster, deeper and provides you ... Melatrol Sleeping Aid is not addictive and no serious side effects. http://www.Sleeping-Aid.ze.cx

When I can't sleep, or have to get to sleep quickly, I take Melatonin from the health food store...a couple tablets puts me down quick, and it helps my 14 yr old son, too.

Hope this helps,

Diphenhydramine aka: Benedryll is what most of the OTC meds contain. It is also used by many hospitals for sleep because there is usually no hangover from this drug. Most stores have their own brand of Diphenhydramine and most will be cheaper than the name brand. If you don't have pain, don't take the PM pain relievers. You don't need the pain relief. Just take the sleep aid.

Stay away from commercial OTC sleep aids. I have two suggestions:

If restless due to mid constantly running: Homeopathic Coffea Crudea 30X tablets. Let four tablets disolve under your tongue.

If restless due to nervousness or nightmares/fears: Homeopathic Belladonna 30X. Four tablets under the tongue.

If those don't work you can buy an herbal remedy called Kava Kava. One 400mg capsule will make you very calm, and two will put you to sleep. But don't use this herb long term, it can create issues with your liver.

Melatonin. This is the natural chemical that is produced in you body that makes you tired. It works wonders. Please don't take a pain or any other medication with a side affect of drowsiness. OCT meds are bad enough as it is when you need them but to use them as a sleep aid is crazy. FYI you can get melatonin at any drug store.

Better than a pill, drink Chamomile tea! It tastes great, is good for you, sends you off to sleep gently and feels like a treat. Can't get much better than that!
