How often do you get a massage n how much do you tip?!

Question: I was told a $12 tip was expected for a 55 min massage at massage envy. what do you pay? To save money, I was thinking of going to a non-chain salon.. are those real sketchy? My back is killing me lol

Tip $ ...4..massages..hmm..12 bucks that's a real good tip..I'm a massage therapist .. my tip calculate saying..exactly 8.25's a good tip but that's neither here nor there..well I guess I'm siding with the massage therapist on this one because I'm a massage therapist my self and big tips are great because..they kinda make up for all the bad tips..even if after the person says that massage was great and they leave a bad tip ...I kinda say to my boss let so and so have them next because they tip bad..In other words I let another therapist have that costumer that i dint want based on them not tipping well..etc.. sounds like u should try either deep tissue, chiropractor,or reflexology because sometimes the feet are related to having back problems.u might need arch supports ..to cushion your back..good luck either way..

I get mine free,, I have about got him trained too! he gets tipped plenty!

The tip should be based on the quality of the experience. I've tipped nothing at times, and over 100% other times.

I get a foot massage for every couple of miles I walk when I'm in SE Asia. Here in Saudi Arabia I haven't gotten any massages, but they've got places in Bahrain that I'd like to check out.

I get massage once in awhile home service. I pay 300 pesos (phil money) roughly $6 for 1 hour full body massage when needed. I usually avail of the half body massage at half the price. It is worth it. In the massage parlor, it is roughly 400-500.
My work nature requires me sit down work meaning computer plus accounting, etc.

I go one hour a week since 1994, I always tip at least 20 bucks, no sex , just a real massage therapist.

And here are where the hidden costs come in. Between the monthly fee and the tipping you end up spending the same amount you would spend anywhere else, but you are locked into a contract. The therapists at places like this are only making $12-$25 per hour. They depend on tips. If you can find a therapist that works independently you will avoid feeling obligated to pay a huge tip.

For most services the standard guideline for tipping is 15 ro 20 %. This is the same for your restaurant server, hair stylist, massage therapist etc. More is always appreciated but 15 to 20 % is very nice.

As for your concerns, I am a natural health practitioner and I know many, ethical, legitimate practitioners in private practice. I would ask friends for recommendations of who they use or look in your local natural health publication or look online, Call and talk to the various practitioners to ask about their practice, their training and the services they offer.

Choose a practioner that you feel a good rapport with. If they sound shady, they probably are, if they sound professional, they probably are. A professional therapist with good ethics will be happy to entertain your questions and concerns.

Many good therapists are as concerned about getting clients who are looking for a shady deal as you are about getting a shady therapist. Your healthy concern over receiving a theraputic service will probably be quite refreshing.
