Can I strengthen my vision with vitamins or supplements?!

Question: My daughter has been seen by a eye doctor and she needs glasses. I was wondering if there supplements or vitamins or certain foods I could give her to help her eyesight strengthen as she grows? She is 5 now.

Well, a couple of the answers were right, but they may be misleading with the generic reference.
Yes, Vitamin A (preferably as Beta Carotene, which is in carrots as mentioned) is good for eye health, as is Lutein, Bilberry, Eyebright (an herb), and Zeaxanthin....... but they aren't good for improving vision.

Vision health and good vision are two entirely different things, unfortunately. Simply put, they can make her eye's tissues healthier, but they can't change the physical distance between the lens and retina (which is when glasses/contacts are required). She just needs to get used to glasses... they aren't really a bad thing. I've had glasses for many years, and honestly, the "what will people think?" aspect is the hardest part about it... just reassure her that what she thinks other people will think is MUCH worse than anything negative that anyone else thinks about them (meaning it'll be better than she thinks).

There are many older people that take some combination of nutrients to help vision health in an effort to prevent their vision from getting worse.... but for a 5-year old, that would be significant overkill. Just make sure she has a well balanced diet with enough antioxidants (like vitamins A, C, and E among others), and she should be fine. Good luck!

I heard betacarotein founds in what else, carrots helped, but I think you're daughter is gonna be stucked with glasses until she's 21, then she can get laser eye surgery ;) I did that and it's totally worth the 3 500$!

Vitamin A is good for the eyes but you must be extremely careful how much you give her because it can be toxic if you give her over the recommended daily amount.

Take lots of vitamin A, they are proven to help vision when your young eat lots of carots theyre 300% vitamin a

At her age she only needs a healthy food, street walks and the less she spends time near a computer or TV the better her vision will be.

carrots and blueberries the best things

You can't actually improve your vision but you can certainly slow down the deterioration.

Good foods to eat for eye health are carrots, corn (maize), bilberries and blueberries.

A good supplements to take for eye health is Vision Defence Formula which is a bilberry supplement containing about 10 or more other components.

This is what I take. Hope it helps!
