Valerian Root, St. John's Wort, Lavender Tea, Camomile?!

Question: Ok. I am having problems sleeping and some people have suggested Valerian Root, St. John's Wort, Lavender Tea, and Camomile. I am totally ignorant about all of these things. First of all, what are they? Where can you buy them? Do they really work? Have any of you tried them? I live in Starkville, MS. Small town. Where would I find these things? Thanks so much

Sassafras tea makes me sleepy.

You can buy some supplements at wal-mart in the vitamin isle. I know i've seen Valerian Root and St. John's Wort there. Celestial Seasonings makes a Sleepytime Tea. Read up on St. John's Wort though, it interacts with some prescription drugs.

I would advise against using melatonin unless you're really suffering from insomnia. It tampers with your hormones and natural sleep rhythm, and can cause mood swings.

The simple answer is that they are all natural products that help to promote sleep, relaxation, or general mood (the St. John's Wort doesn't directly help for sleep, but it supports mood health). The Chamomile, Lavender, and Valerian are all plants that have natural chemicals that help people relax and sleep, plus they are generally safe for people to take.

We have thousands of customers that take these among other natural sleep aids with great success. The main thing is that natural products help to give your body nutrition that it may be lacking in order to give the benefits... so if your body isn't lacking the nutrients that any of these plants give, you may not fall asleep from them.

Most drug stores will have vitamins and at least some variety of herbs. If none of the stores in your area have any herbs, there are a few good mail order companies out there that will ship anywhere in the U.S. and have competitive prices. Check around, ask friends/family, and you should be able to find some fairly easily. Good luck!

The combination that you have its very good, but lately, I found out this one, and I am very pleased with the results. Its worth to try.
