Do you want to be a doctor? If so, why and if not, why not?!

Question: Originally I really wanted to. My parents sent me off to a medical internship thing in highschool called NYLF. While I was there I discovered many things about applying to medical school, including how much it cost, how to play the rediculous game to get in, and the horrors of residency (that you get a few hours of sleep a night for a few years, hence meaning you needed to save up on sleep before residency). When I learned about this last one (the residency one), I basically said "f*ck it, I don't want be a doctor. That's suicide."

I naturally like to heal and help people, and the socially accepted way to realize this is to go to medical school and become doctors. Unforunately, theres jsut so much bs you have to deal with if you want to do that. So instead, I decided to just learn ways to heal on my own (which helps since I have a lot of family members that are doctors), and then practice it on people I know,
The pros are that I get to heal people (and have fun doing it) without going through medical school, the cons are that I will never be able to do it seriously for a profession or get the respect and prestigue of an MD.
I do stocks for a living so I'm fine with the tradeoff.

Firefighter/paramedic, we get all the action and are the ones who save lives when in immediate danger =)
Diagnosing people with a flu or chest cold is too boring for me =p

NO WAY!!! My stepdaughter is a pediatric oncologist. Seems she never has any time to herself...too much time is invested in other people's ailments when you're a doctor!
