Can kelp help with hyperthyroidism?!

Question: Because of its very high iodine concentrations, there is no "probably" about it: Kelp should profoundly NOT be taken in case of hyperthyroidism (overactive thyroid). Taking it would more than likely induce acute psychosis in addition to several other highly negative symptoms in keeping with acute hyperthyroidosis. To be avoided at all costs. Excellent for low or hypothyroidism. NOT for use in high or excessive thyroid symptoms.

I wouldn't mess with alternative therapies on this one. I've seen too many people die from untreated hyperthyroidism (from heart attack) Youngest was 28.

It would probably make it worse. There is a herb called Lycopus which helps, and anything in the cabbage family also depresses thyroid activity because they contain mustard oil. A good choice would be horseradish, but you could use others.

However, to check you're getting a result, monitor your resting pulse rate to see if it gets slower over a period of days.
