Are Evening Primrose Oil supplements beneficial?!

Question: Evening Primrose Oil contains Omega 6 but my doctor says that I only need to take fish oil (Omega 3) supplements because most people get more than enough Omega 6 from their diet. Is this true?

It can be helpful for hormonal regulation. I am a Naturopathic Doctor and I have patients take certain oil during certain times of the month in order to regulate their cycles. EPO is progestrogenic and therefore can help with periods/hormones if taken during days 15-28 (where progesterone is the primary hormone involved)!!! You are right however...most people tend to get enough omega 6's in their diet and omega 6 in excess can get shunted to a pathway in the body that increases inflammation (which is bad)....omega 3's are awesome for soooo many reasons ad never create more inflammation! I usually only recommend omega 6's for certain people (usually with hormonal dyregulation) and again they are only to be used at certain times of the menstral cycle!

well, evening primrose oil contains vit E which can also be found in diets... but its alright because thats why its called supplements... to supplement our diet intake.

Many MDs don't believe in Omega 6 0r GLA & 9 supplements, but primrose oil can be very helpful for menstrual problems, menopause, diabetic neuropathy, asthma, emphysema, just to name a few.

I think you can always use more especially if you have a health problem.
