How to treat something when no one knows the cause?!

Question: My daughter has granuloma annulare, it's a skin thing...I am trying to research if there are any homeopathics, or natural things I can do to help but most of the time, you have to start with a cause..The doc said it was inflammation...I guess maybe boosting her immune system? This can last for years, and it does not really cause any problems..It just really bothers me..So, with out going to a naturpath, any thoughts???

Most other things, you can logic out, but this one stumps me...

Theres a chemical called DMSO thats pretty popular in the alternative medicine circles. It has many uses, but one of its top ones is that it's an extremely powerful anti oxidant and anti inflammatory agent (I used it on myself for this reason actually).
Oftentimes I've seen inflamatory conditions that could not be fixed be solved with dmso. If you plan to do this approach, it's extremely important to make sure the dmso is pure (nothing mixed into it) and that you apply it to completely clean skin.

Homeopathic remedys seem like they would work for this. Unfortunately, using them requires you to have something that can duplicate the symptoms which might be somewhat of a problem here since the condition is an engima. Hence, I am skeptical any homeopathic remdys are currently available for it.

The best/final approach would be (provided it is) to find the environmental cause and remove it. Odds are something in her food or something sparyed onto the areas she travels in causes it. Naturopaths have elimination diets where they take stuff out of your diet so that the problem agent can be exposed and thne a final diet is picked with the bad part permanemntly removed. You can do this with a naturopath, but if you really think about it you don't need one to do it yourself, it's just more of a hassle since they have exact protocols developed for it.

After a bit of digging I foudn this on google.

Natural Treatment for Granuloma Annulare - How to Manage your condition
At this time there is little knowledge on dietary or nutritional options for the treatment of granuloma annulare. The first option is to make sure any of the drugs you may be taking is not causing the condition. Certain drugs can have unusual side effects, either alone or in combination with other drugs. Perhaps if some of the drugs you are taking could be stopped for a couple of months unless they are absolutely necessary.
Second, make sure you have a full checkup to rule out any conditions listed above that could be causing the skin problem. This would include a routine blood tests plus evaluation for autoimmune conditions. For instance, make sure you do not have diabetes, a thyroid problem, or an infection. Third, consider improving your diet to reduce sugar and sweets, and increase your intake of fresh vegetables and eat more salmon, halibut, tuna, sardines, and fish. See diet for suggestions. Also, improving sleep patterns can help your immune system.
Lastly, if all else fails,, some of the standard medical options listed below could be tried. Often, granuloma annulare is a self-limited condition that may go away by itself in a few months or a couple of years.

Hope all of that helps!
Sorry about the typos...I'm very tired

inflammation is caused by the immune system....so "boosting" it most likely wont do much, and can possibly irritate it.

The immune system isn't just what protects you from colds - and it isn't a single "thing" - its a whole family of functions....
One of those functions is inflammation.....and sometimes thats bad (as in this case) and sometimes thats good....like when you have an infected cut.....so it sounds like you want to suppress (i.e. slow down) the first one....

You might want to try fish oil, Flax seed oil, AND Borage seed oil....(the GOOD omega threes and sixes - with an emphasis on that last one)

Good luck
Psst...my sister seems to have every skin condition on the planet (I guess its fair, I got every inhaled allergy)....and she swears by polstices of dead sea salts (she makes a mix of 1 cup hot water with 1 tablespoon dead sea salts, puts it on a clean wash cloth, and let it sit on the affected area while she watches TV for a while)

Be well

Sorry. Homeopathic remedies
