Alternative medicine: Are there any known alternatives for Bipolar Disorder?!

Question: I am hesitant to answer due to my own personal beliefs. I know very little about alternative medications as they pertain to any chemical imbalance in the brain. I have no knowledge of any other medications other than the FDA approved ones.

I assume there may be. Just as I assume the cure for other conditions such as certain cancers, etc. may be cured by some unknown alternative methods.

But, unfortunately many diagnosis are inappropriately made by some physicians, particularly in the mental health profession. (My opinion, only)

I'm sure my attempt to answer hasn't helped too much. But, I have two family members who both have been diagnosed as Bipolar and on meds for the condition. As a person in the medical field, I have seen many people given this diagnosis and I think it is one that is not as prevalent as doctors suggest.

Always get a second opinion when diagnosed with a condition such as this one. I know a few psychiatrist who have told me, personally, that they have given the diagnosis due to a lack of the true understanding of the patients symptoms. Hence my reasoning for believing Bipolar Disorder is an over-used diagnosis.

Again, these are only my personal opinions.

I would strongly encourage someone to seek medical advise from a specialized professional in this field. And to always get a second opinion.

Sorry I am unable to offer you any advice. Perhaps ask your GP. I myself am not a great believer in Herbal products due to the fact that many have never been tested.

it would be best talking to a GP he will have more answers but i have heard diet and meditation are factors that can help .... :)

The only possible option I know would be for bipolar patients to get tested for the many infections that can cause these types of symptoms-the infections in question are things like chronic lyme disease, chlamydia pneumoniae, etc.
Lots of mental patients have infections causing their illness,
but specialist doctors have to be consulted for a proper diagnosis.
