What is the safe dosage of fish oil that I can give my Cairn Terrier?!

I have a miniature poodle
since a puppy have given 1000 mg gel cap daily. It was not for the same reason but there have been no adverse effects
Whatever amount a veterinarian tells you is safe. Unless they are otherwise labeled, most supplements are in doses for humans.... but if you get a fish oil (or any other supplement) that's labeled for a dog, it should list doses based on weight right on the bottle.
