Can you get in trouble with your own prescribed medicine for this reason?!

Question: Say you got your wisdom teeth pulled and you were prescribed Lortab a few months ago. Can you still use your own prescribed medicine up until the expiration date for other things such as migranes? Is it possible to get in trouble for that since it's not the original purpose of the prescribed medicine?

Specific answers would be nice. Thanks.

You will be fine. As long as the meds are prescribed to you, and you are using them, there is no violation of the law.

In fact, you can use it after the expiration date without worry. Most medications simply lose potency after the expiration date.

yeah. if its prescribed to you, nobody can tell you that you can't take it. make sure that the medication won't have adverse effects with any other medication you might currently take.

As long as you are following the instructions on the prescription (take 1 tablet for pain every 6 hours) or whatever it is, then you're fine. They are your pills, take them if you need to.

Yes. My dentist would almost insist that I double my meds when he was to work on my teeth. You must make sure that you use meds wisely and do not get addicted to prescription medications. If in doubt, call the pharmacy or your doctor.

no as long as your not selling it, or doing other things with it. you need it for other reasons. I use my medication for other things too.

I am no Doc but I cannot see that it would HURT anything too use ur same medicine again for a different ailment--but I would do my homework first to make sure It's actually USED for that different ailment AND only if I was NOT taking any additional or different types of other medicines that would not interact with the Lortab. (did i state THAT correctly-- i THINK U KNOW WHAT I MEAN? bEST WISHES; ASK UR DOC OR Pharmacy.

Once the medicine is prescribed for you, you are ok to take it. They do not "check up" on you to verify the reasons for which you take it, so you're fine. You won't get in trouble.
