Have you ever had accupuncture?!

Question: I was wondering what its like? Does it work? What does it make you feel like after etc.. I have a phobia of needles so im quite sceptical about it, although i may consider having it if you cant feel the needles and it helps you relax. So you opinions are welcomed good or bad. Thank you x x x

I just graduated as a Naturopathic Doctor and one of the modalities that we use is acupuncture. It is an amazing treatment that can be very effective if done properly. The needles are soooo small that you shouldn't feel them going in, other than an initial tiny pick. Acupuncture can be used for a lot of things; it can be used for relaxation, gastrointestinal problems etc. all the way to myofacial release (which is the usage of acupuncture needles to release contracted muscles/knots). It has been used as a treatment for years and years and is very effective. Many of my classmates were a bit "needle phobic" when we first had to start acupuncture but after they tried it they found that it was nothing like getting blood taken or an injection given and they found it quite calming. I would suggest, as someone else already did, to make sure you see a Qualified acupuncturist, Naturopath or physiotherapist etc. depending on what you're using the acupuncture for!

Yes, I had accupunture following a back injury and it worked very well. You feel a tiny little bit of initial pressure as the needle goes in but the whole procedure and treatment was very peaceful, restful and a great experience.

I also had the same practitioner manipulate the pressure points in my feet and neck and it was incredible.

Find a possible practitioner and talk to him or her and I am sure they will put you at your ease.

Try it, it is worth it.

my ex had it after all other treatments didnt work for arthritis in his knee he was fed up with painkillers but willing to try anything. he was sceptical about acupuncture as was it but it did seem to work, he said u couldnt feel the needles he had them each side of his kneecap, only drawback was he got scars where the needles went in but his skin scarred easily anyway so may just have been him.

If you have a phobia about needles they wouldn't put them in you (its one of the things asked before treatment).. you have 5 + needles put in and they sit there for 20 Min's... honestly you would hate it, it would freak you out. Acupuncture does work for a lot of things (mainly chronic pain and muscle spasm) but you need to not bothered by needles.

Yes it does work I have had it for a back injury, but if you are thinking of trying this method of treatment contact your GP or your local Health centre they should, put you in touch with a <legitmate practioner, tread carefully, there many who are not qualified >

Whilst there are several theories as to why acupuncture works, the most likely and mundane answer is that it precipitates the release of endorphines in specific areas of the body.

Since endorphins are not only powerful painkillers, they induce a certain level of euphoria, which can be used in various psychological applications.

This means that there are effective alternatives to acupuncture, which do not entail punctures of the skin. The easiest system is Electrical Nerve Stimulation, which you can use as an effective chronic pain management tool. It can actually cure the chronic pain!............ (I and my wife use it all the time)

Consult your local holistic clinic for more info.

no but i had a puncture in my tyre once,, he hja sorry just could not resist that
but no i aint

Acupuncture does have its uses, but acupuncture is grossly oversold. In China, it is rapidly losing popularity as Chinese gain access effective Western medicines.

Acupuncture has been shown to work slightly better than placebo for some kinds of pain. However, it appears needle placement is largely irrelevant, so it might be just as effective to see a tailor as a "qualified" acupuncturist.

A good Osteopathic Physician who is sympathetic to Altmed may be able to direct you to an Acupuncturist. Just don't expect too much.

Don't consult a Naturopath. These are among the worst kinds of incompetent, gullible, ill-educated quacks.

yes, one of the most relaxing things i've ever done.

I have a phobia of needles as well so I know where you are coming from.

I trained as a Hypnotherapist so I could conquer my fear of needles and I did. 7 Years later, I am still practising and have helped loads of people with the same fear.

Well anyway, I use Acupuncture for my sinus problems and it works like a dream. In fact it cured it and I do not need to go anymore.

I use a deep relaxing technique to help me relax and then I go for it.

I also tell the person doing the acupuncture that I do not want to see the needles and they accepted my wishes.

So talk to the them first and tell them what, why and your fears.

It helped me and it could help you.

IF you need any further help, email me.

Good luck. Blessed Be X
