The reason why you would see old movies or TV where someone would put a frozen steak on a black eye is because there are enzymes in the meat that actually help the bruise go away faster.
A more sanitary way to deal with it is obviously good old fashioned ice within 30 minutes of the injury, but if you've waited... Then, its too late but to let mother nature take its course.

You can probably find 30c, and best dose for acute problem like that is 2-4 pellets dissolved under tongue 3 times during the day (for one day). It tastes really sweet because it is a sugar base, and it is very safe to use. It is good after any trauma, especially head injuries or "weekend warrior" pains.
