Step One
Swallow 1 tsp. white table sugar, dry. A study found that this stopped hiccups immediately in 19 out of 20 people. Repeat up to 3 more times at 2-minute intervals if necessary.
2
Step Two
Gulp down a glass of water if the sugar doesn't work.
3
Step Three
Slowly eat a piece of dry bread.
4
Step Four
Breathe in and out of a paper bag. Do not use a plastic bag under any circumstances, and don't do this longer than 1 minute.
5
Step Five
Gargle with water.
6
Step Six
Repeat the above steps until your hiccups stop.

Stretch and breath deeply - breathe 2 counts in and 4 counts out for several breaths slowly. Lay on the floor and stretch.

Your diaphragm (the muscle at the bottom of the lungs) is spasming.

I get hiccups ALOT and what works for me is if you hold your breath then actually swallow your hiccups down. That calms down your diaphragm.Or the drinking water from a glass upside-down works.

drink water upside down - sounds wierd, but it works every time for me.

Try this. It has NEVER failed to get rid of my hiccups. Drink water through a straw while you plug up your ears with you fingertips. I have told a lot of people to do this and it always gets rid of theirs too. Take about 7 or 8 gulps of water while you plug your ears. Don't forget your straw..

This is guaranteed to work. Take a table spoon of vinegar. Just gulp it down quick. You will feel the effects right away! Works like a charm. Here are more ideas if you don't have vinegar.
